Recently we've started talks with WS council, looking to get an indoor space maybe once or twice a week, where we can help people practise parkour in a more forgiving environment.
We're aiming to set up Parkour classes at either:
Pavilions Gymnastics
Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre
Tanbridge House
Forest School
The idea is to be able to help people see if Pakour is for them by providing the oppurtunity to build confidence up inside, enough to start training outside. We can't do this on our own we need your support to show the council that this would be worthwhile....
What is Horsham Movement?
Horsham Movement is a parkour organisation based around Horsham, West Sussex (UK). Horsham Movement's aim is to develop the community in Horsham and surrounding areas. Knowing that parkour could benifit many people who may not even have herd of it, means we are passionate about getting more people involved. We hope to gain more interest, help people understand what it's about and give people the oppurtunity to see if it's for them!
Who is Horsham Movement?
Horsham Movement isn’t a team or a group; it’s a community of practitioners consisting of anyone who trains in Horsham. After realising that teams took the non competitive, open nature of Parkour away, several Horsham based practitioners – (Steven Whitley, Max Cave, Luke Harty, Benj Cave, Drew Taylor) formed Horsham Movement in late 2008. Originally people training parkour in Horsham were few and far between. Over the course of 2009 more and more people tried it out and discovered the benefits of training. HM now consists of over 30 regular practitioners, but we hope to increase this number dramatically.
What is Parkour to us?
Although we understand how physically beneficial Parkour can be, and originally it was a method of training. To us, Parkour is one of the few positive and fun activities that young people can do which requires no equipment, membership or competitivity. Because Parkour is just a series of challenges, people who train become very good at dealing with not only the physical, but mental aspects of overcoming a challenge. The skills or methods learned can be directly approached to any problem or challenge one might face in day to day life.
